Disneyland vs Disneyworld: Which One is Right for You?

Are you thinking of planning a Disney treat for yourself or your family very soon? Let's explore a little bit more what the happiest place on Earth has to offer you!

So in my blog post, I will share with you some information about Disneyland and Disneyworld!

They are both owned by The Walt Disney Company, but they have some distinct features and attractions that make them unique. Here are some of the main differences between them:

  • Location: Walt Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida, while Disneyland is located in Anaheim, California. They are about 2,500 miles apart, so you will need to fly or drive a long distance to visit both of them.

  • Size: Walt Disney World is much larger than Disneyland, covering about 43 square miles of land. Disneyland is only about 500 acres in size. This means that Walt Disney World has more parks, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment options than Disneyland.

  • Parks: Walt Disney World has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. It also has two water parks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Disneyland has two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. It does not have any water parks.

  • Castles: The centerpiece of each resort is a different castle. Walt Disney World has Cinderella Castle, which is about 189 feet tall and inspired by French architecture. Disneyland has Sleeping Beauty Castle, which is about 77 feet tall and inspired by German architecture.

  • Attractions: Both resorts have some of the same attractions, such as Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and It’s a Small World. However, they also have some unique attractions that are only found at one resort or the other. For example, Walt Disney World has Expedition Everest, Avatar Flight of Passage, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Tower of Terror. Disneyland has Matterhorn Bobsleds, Indiana Jones Adventure, Radiator Springs Racers, and Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout345.

  • Weather: The weather at each resort can vary depending on the season and the location. Generally speaking, Disneyland has a more mild and consistent climate than Walt Disney World, which can experience more humidity, rain, and hurricanes. However, both resorts can get very hot and crowded during the summer months.

  • Charm: Some people prefer Disneyland over Walt Disney World because they feel that it has more charm and nostalgia. Disneyland was the first theme park that Walt Disney himself created and opened in 1955. It has a more intimate and cozy feel than Walt Disney World, which opened in 1971 after Walt’s death. Disneyland also has some original attractions that Walt personally designed or supervised.

  • Price: The price of visiting each resort can vary depending on many factors, such as the length of stay, the type of ticket, the season, the hotel, and the dining plan. Generally speaking, Walt Disney World is more expensive than Disneyland because it has more options and requires more time to explore. However, both resorts offer discounts and packages that can help reduce the cost of your vacation.

These are some of the major differences between Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Both resorts have their own advantages and disadvantages, so it depends on your personal preference and budget which one you choose to visit.
